Death Metal vocalist dismissed from teaching

*External link to the Japanese website

This entry is written for readers from Germany or those who are interested in that country.

A newspaper says that Thomas Gurrath (29) , a vocalist of Death Metal band from Germany, Debauchery**, was dismissed from teaching because the music style of his band was very brutal.
And it is said that Gurrath taught politics, history and ethics as a probationary teacher at Hegel-Gymnasium Stuttgart but his Metal activity came out to his boss therefore he was compelled by his boss to give up his music life or to resign his job.

(May 13.) I will modify this entry partly therefore it is closed briefly.
And I would like you to comment about this issue.

  1. ... hmmm that sounds a bit stupid. Typical for Germany, I would say. Afraid of all the things that are not mainstream.
Do you know the word "Spiesser" (maybe your new dictionary does...)? That's what a lot of Germans are.
Although I have to say that there were big discussions about child abuse in schools during the last two months. More and more people came forward to talk about all kind of negative experiences they had in school. Maybe those discussions have triggered the events that you describe and the headmaster became overly afraid of public opinion and parents reaction. This is not an excuse of course, but maybe and explanation. And the pictures with all the blood are pretty scary...

btw BILD is THE worst newspaper in Germany. I hate it with all my heart ;-)

  2. I looked up "Spiesser" in my dictionary; young male deer. (Just a joke!)

I had not known that there were big discussions about child abuse in Germany by now. (And I searched and read quickly the news about them on the internet.) I see, unfortunately for Thomas Gurrath, the detection of child abuse and big discussions about that in Germany coincided the discovery of his "hobby" by his boss, I guess. (And I know that there are a lot of Roman Catholic in Southern Germany including Stuttgart.)

But we should NOT discriminate against someone by his thought, insistence or taste. That is, we should blame criminals who committed child abuse but should NEVER blame those who (will) rape children in their mind, in their head though we might not like, or hate with all our hearts, such rapers with a lively imagination. Such a imaginative raper might actually live a sound and healthy life. (By the way, the Constitution of Japan says "freedom of thought and conscience shall not be violated" on its Article 19. I agree truly with this article.)

And I am convinced invalidly that almost all of "Heavy Metalers" (HM musicians and fans) are evil satanists who love peace and justice. They love or wish peace and justice therefore they never take peace and justice, or god, religion and love for granted.

Natürlich verstehe ich, dass Das Bild vulgär ist. Aber Bild ist kurz also leicht für Anfängernen, deutsche Sätze zu lesen.

And such a behavior could evidence that you are a "Spiesserin"...? (Sorry, just a joke, too! I have a sharp tongue too.)
