Paul the octopus (age 2), a prophet of the World Cup 2010 South Africa, has died in the morning Today (in German Time.)
His aquarium said that he would have died by natural causes, and his body would be cremated.

On Kirin Challenge Cup* international friendly soccer match (キリンチャレンジカップ) in Yokahama city (横浜市) the Japan national football team (サッカー日本代表) achieved revenge against Paraguay with a 1-0 triumph. (See here**.)
As I noted before, Japan lost the game against Paraguay on the Second Round in the World Cup 2010 South Africa.
The game started with 9 World Cup players on Paraguay side; I can say that they were best members of Paraguay team.
Therefore Japan's revenge was significant and never easy or false.
On the match against Argentina (Oct. 8) Japan is to be led by a new coach, Alberto Zaccheroni (57), who is the first coach from Italy for Japan national team.
Zaccheroni was not able to lead the team on this match and cannot on the next one (Sep. 7) because he has not got a working visa yet.

Jul. 11. the World Cup 2010 South Africa finally came to an end.
The result is that Spain won the World Cup for the first time by defeating Netherlands on the final match.

Spain defeated Germany 1-0 in the World Cup semifinals though Germany did their best.

We surely lost the game against Paraguay but were never defeated by them.
Japan and Paraguay were equal in strength therefore were not able to bring the match to an end after 30 minutes of extra time; What brought it to an end was the penalty-kicks 5-3.
All we lacked is just luck or fortune.
I have nothing to say about the defeat by the penalty-kicks!
All the fans and supporters in Japan would certainly welcome the coming-back of the team.
By the way, the match started at 11 p.m. Jun. 29 and ended at 2 a.m. the next day in Japanese Time.
And according to FIFA, the Japanese midfielder on the loser team, Honda Keisuke has been elected Man of the Match (see here.)

Tonight Germany defeated England easily 4-1 as if their opponent were not England but another weaker team.
Of course I think it was a pity that in the first half an English midfielder Frank Lampard's shot was not judged as their second goal by the referee in spite of the fact that the ball had crossed the goalline definitely.
But especially in the second half England was overwhelmed perfectly by their own rivals.

Switzerland upset Spain
Jun. 16 (17 in Japanese Time) in the World Cup Group H Switzerland (FIFA rank 24) defeated Spain (rank 2) 1-0 who has been regarded as one of fancied teams to become the champion.
Did Switzerland produce the biggest upset of the World Cup as well as Japan by defeating Cameroon?
I am rather interested in Switzerland because German I have learned for a long time is spoken as one of common languages there.
And there they speak in 4 languages: German, French, Italian, and Romansh (little spoken.)
I am also interested in which language the Swiss talk with each other in the team.
Is it that "I speak German, he speaks Freach, but no broblem"?
