Jul. 11. the World Cup 2010 South Africa finally came to an end.
The result is that Spain won the World Cup for the first time by defeating Netherlands on the final match.
Germany I cheered up next to Japan and defeated by Spain in the semi-finals set themselves in the third place by winning the match against Paraguay.

And Jul. 13. Ogura Junji (小倉純二), a Japanese director of FIFA, revealed that Japan would come in the ninth place on the World Cup 2010.
It is said that this good news would be officially announced from FIFA by the end of this month (see here* or mirror*.)
Japan aimed for Best 4 (and Honda Keisuke said they headed for the champion) but it would be great and proud to be in the ninth place on the World Cup!

By the way, a Uruguayan forward, Diego Forlán won the Golden Ball award and has been elected the Most Valuable Player (MVP) on the World Cup (his interview is here**.)
But in fact a German player, who was not in South Africa but in a water tank, had been paid more attention than Forlán from all over the world; Paul the Octopus.

Unbelievably, very very very surprisingly, all of his prediction on eight matches on the World Cup that Germany would defeat Australia (Jun. 13), be defeated by Serbia (Jun. 18), defeat Ghana (Jun. 23) (Group D), defeat England (Jun. 27), defeat Argentina (Jul. 3), be defeated by Spain (Jul. 7) (Round of 16), defeat Uruguay (Jul. 10, the third place match) and Spain would defeat Netherlands (Jul. 11, the final match) came true perfectly!!!
The probability that all of his prediction come true is 1 in 256 (about 0.39%)...that's miracle!
He would not make a disadvantageous prediction for Germany if he were a fan of his team but he is a true prophet more than a Germany fan.
Congratulations, Paul!
