On the semifinal of Asian Cup 2011 Japan barely defeated Korea Republic (South Korea) after extra time (J 2-2 K) and penalty-shootout (J 3-0 K).
In soccer the Japan's side regards Korea Republic as a closely bound rival.
According to Japan's Italian coach Arberto Zaccheroni, the rivalry between Japan and Korea Republic is like the ones between Germany and Italy or between Brazil and Argentina (see here**.)
And Japan had lost much more games against Korea Republic than they has won; 70 matches, 11 wins, 38 losses, 22 draws (before the this match; see here**)
Therefore Today's win would be proud and significant for Japan.
One could say it was a miracle that Japan defeated Korea Republic in this game.
I think it would not be surprising undoubtedly that the game could have gone either way.
It would be nothing but miracle that on penalty-shootouts Japan's goalkeeper Kawashima Eiji (川島永嗣) blocked Korea's first and second shooters successively and its third shooter missed the mark.
By the way, I suppose that the Middle-East judge is not fit and qualified for an international match such as Asian Cup.
They often made misjudges as far as I saw the game on TV.
Also the commentators (Matsuki Yasutarou (松木安太郎) and Sergio Echigo (セルジオ越後)) often complained about the whistler of the Middle-East (中東の笛吹き).
Australia comes to the final by defeating Uzbekistan 6-0!
Of course there is a doubt that "Australia is Asia?"
Not geographically but historically it would be Europe because it is one of British Commonwealth even now.
