On quarter finals of Asian Cup 2011, Doha, Qatar, Japan defeated Qatar 3-2.
(See here** for the detail of the match.)
When Japan's defender Yoshida Maya (吉田麻也) (No. 22) was dismissed because of Red Card on 16 min. of the second half (61 min.) and when just after that Qatar scored a the second goal by a free kick and was 1 point ahead of Japan on 18 min. of it (63 min.), Qatari fans must have been sure of their win (then Japan 1-2 Qatar.)
In fact then also I had a foreboding that Japan would be defeated.
The result that Japan's other 10 players after a defender's dismissal barely defeated their opponent with 11 players reminded me of Japan Junior Youth team's match against French in Captain Tsubasa (キャプテン翼), on which Japan with 10 players defeated French after a defender Souda Makoto's (早田誠) dismissal.
Anyway, I was very excited throughout this game.
A sarcastic friend of mine who talked with me through the phone for several minutes at the beginning of the match about 10:30 p.m. said to me, "national match makes nationalism. Does on earth the match bring you a profit?"
Idiot! The Heideggerian philosophy seems to give birth to only such a sarcasm! I will never discuss with him over this subject at all!
By the way, today's title, survival of Doha (ドーハの生存競争), is named after the Agony of Doha** (ドーハの悲劇).
